Installation in Action: Cayuga Nature Center
August 23, 2018
The new permanent exhibit at Cayuga Nature Center, Cayuga Lake: Past and Present, brings attention to the delicate and interconnected relationships humans have with the bodies of water that define our homes, as well as the homes of many an organism. In a side-by-side comparison, two 650-gallon fish tanks show Cayuga Lake recreated as it was three-hundred years ago and as it is today.
Split Rock Studios worked with the Nature Center’s director of exhibitions and Reef Craft to design the exhibit that included not only the two large fish tanks, but fabricated rocks and trees, taxidermy animals from the center’s collection, and murals of a farm today and an old growth forest.
