Nya’waap Illyuw Uuchyuwp—Our Way of Knowing, a twenty-minute film that shares the origin story of the Barona Band of the Kumeyaay, premiered this year at Red National International Film Festival in Beverly Hills, CA.
About the Film: Nya’waap Illyuw Uuchyuwp—Our Way of Knowing interweaves live action and original animation with songs and storytelling by Kumeyaay elders. Led by Barona Band of Mission Indians and produced in collaboration with Winikur Productions and Split Rock Studios, this film experience helps preserve vital cultural knowledge.
